Retail Sales Representative

The Retail Sales Representative interacts with patrons, providing support and facilitating purchase transactions, while ensuring outstanding customer service through the efficient management of store operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Handles transactions and assists customers with purchases of merchandise, fuel, and general inquiries.
  • Delivers customer service in a courteous and effective manner while collaborating with team members.
  • Prepares the store for opening and adheres to proper closing procedures at the end of each shift.
  • Prepares beverages such as coffee and fountain drinks, and similar items throughout the store.
  • Stocks and organizes shelves, sales areas, and grocery items, ensuring compliance with temperature, refrigeration, and sanitary standards.
  • Operates electronic cash registers, calculators, and other necessary equipment to fulfill job responsibilities.
  • Maintains all equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Assists in keeping the store's exterior clean and presentable.
  • Adheres to store policies and regulations when selling restricted items including alcohol and tobacco.
  • Completes shift sales reports and reconciles cash shortages according to store policy.
  • Submits a shift change report at the end of the shift as instructed by the Store Manager.
  • Reports to work punctually and follows the assigned work schedule.
  • Informs Store Management of any sales, cash, or operational discrepancies and customer-related issues.
  • Safeguards all store assets and complies with loss prevention protocols.
  • Performs mathematical calculations to provide change, complete reports, and account for various products during vendor check-ins.
  • Undertakes additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in cash handling and customer service is necessary.
  • Must obtain and maintain a Gaming License, issued through POIGRA.
  • Pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check.
  • Must obtain New Mexico State Alcoholic Beverage Service Certification.
  • Must acquire POIGRA Alcohol Server License.
  • Must uphold all educational and certification requirements.
  • Flexible availability, with a willingness to work various days and hours as needed.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • While performing job duties, the employee may be required to stand for extended periods, including climbing stairs, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
  • The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • The noise level in the work environment is generally moderate.
  • While performing job duties, the employee may be exposed to various weather conditions.
  • Team members may occasionally interact with irate or hostile individuals.
