Job Title: Integrated English as a Second Language Educator

The Sisulu-Walker Charter School of Harlem is seeking a highly qualified and dedicated Integrated English as a Second Language Educator to join our team.

Job Summary

The Integrated English as a Second Language Educator will be responsible for providing a comprehensive and supportive learning environment for students who require English language support. The successful candidate will have a strong background in teaching English as a second language and will be able to develop and implement engaging lesson plans that cater to the diverse needs of our students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Instructional Planning: Develop and implement lesson plans that align with state and national standards, and cater to the diverse needs of students.
  • Instructional Delivery: Teach English language arts skills to students, using a variety of instructional methods and technologies to engage students and promote learning.
  • Student Assessment: Assess student progress and adjust instruction to meet the needs of individual students.
  • Learning Environment: Create a safe and supportive learning environment that promotes student engagement and motivation.
  • Extracurricular Activities: Organize and supervise approved field trips to enhance student learning.
  • Student Support & School Culture: Communicate effectively with students, families, colleagues, and administrators to promote a positive school culture.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred.
  • Certification: New York TESOL Teacher Certification.
  • Experience: Excellent communication skills in English and a working knowledge of at least one additional language.
  • Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team, and knowledge of childhood development.
