About the Position

The University of Minnesota's College of Continuing and Professional Studies is seeking a qualified Horticulture Educator or Teaching Specialist to join our team. This adjunct teaching position will report to the Associate Dean for Graduate Education and will be responsible for providing instruction for graduate-level courses in Horticulture.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver high-quality course content for APS Horticulture graduate-level courses.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Graduate Studies for the HORT program and CCAPS staff to ensure successful alignment with the program curriculum.
  • Utilize industry and content expertise to inform course content and stay current with research findings, workforce trends, professional ethics, and policies.
  • Employ new technologies to enhance curriculum delivery and accessibility for working adult students.
  • Apply pedagogical best practices for diverse working adult learners.
  • Teach at scheduled class times, including evenings and weekends, and respond to course-related student inquiries within 48 hours.
  • Demonstrate a proven ability to work successfully with diverse groups of people.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Teaching experience at the graduate level.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Earned doctorate.
  • A minimum of 3 semesters of teaching experience in a higher education setting with a strong record of student evaluations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to work successfully with diverse groups of people.
