Assistant Professor of Turfgrass Science

We are seeking a highly qualified Assistant Professor to join our team in the Department of Horticultural Science at the University of Minnesota. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching, research, and extension activities related to turfgrass science.
Responsibilities- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in turfgrass science, including courses on turfgrass physiology, management, and ecology.
- Conduct research in turfgrass science, including studies on turfgrass physiology, breeding, and management.
- Develop and implement extension programs to educate turfgrass professionals, growers, and homeowners on best management practices for turfgrass.
- Collaborate with colleagues in the Department of Horticultural Science and other departments on campus to develop and implement interdisciplinary research and extension programs.
- Secure external funding to support research and extension activities.
- Ph.D. in Horticulture, Plant Science, Plant Physiology, or a related field.
- Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and extension.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to travel to multiple locations for field research and extension programming.
- Record of publication in peer-reviewed academic journals.
- Evidence of ability to pursue and obtain competitive funding.
- Demonstrated research productivity in turfgrass science.
- Evidence of transdisciplinary grant writing success and collaboration.
- Evidence of success in applying contemporary approaches to problem-solving in turfgrass systems.
- Implementation of innovative and inclusive teaching pedagogy via multiple platforms.
- Demonstrated experience in and an ongoing commitment to working effectively with and across diverse communities and identities.
