Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Ophthalmic Assistant to join our team at CEENTA. As a key member of our clinical staff, you will provide high-quality, compassionate care to our patients while working closely with our physicians, including Dr. Cervantes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical and administrative support to our physicians, including preparing patients for exams, obtaining medical histories, and documenting patient information.
  • Assist with patient examinations, treatments, and in-office procedures, including preparing and administering medications and collecting laboratory specimens.
  • Perform preliminary ophthalmic work-ups, including visual assessments, confrontational visual field testing, and slit lamp examinations.
  • Document patient information accurately and efficiently, using our electronic health record system.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure seamless care delivery.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to stay current with best practices and advancements in ophthalmology.
Requirements
  • One to three years of experience as an ophthalmic assistant or in a related clinical role.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; ocular plastic experience preferred.
  • Graduate of an International Council of Accreditation (ICA) accredited clinical training program or completion of an International Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (IJCAHPO) or American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) independent study course preferred.
  • Current Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) certification from the IJCAHPO preferred.
  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required.
