Academic Services Coordinator for Student-Athletes
The University of New Mexico is looking for an Academic Services Coordinator dedicated to supporting student-athletes, with a particular emphasis on women's basketball and other Olympic sports such as baseball and track and field.
The successful candidate will have a thorough knowledge of NCAA regulations regarding student eligibility and graduation standards.Key Responsibilities:
- Delivering a range of student services, including career counseling, tutoring, accessibility assistance, crisis intervention, and educational programming
- Working in partnership with Academic Advisors to provide academic support
- Executing initiatives aimed at enhancing recruitment, retention, and graduation rates
- Guiding student-athletes in fulfilling eligibility requirements established by NCAA and relevant conferences
A Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 2 years of pertinent experience. Candidates with advanced degrees may have experience waived.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Counseling, Education, Sports Management, or a related discipline
- Experience in advising collegiate athletes and managing tutoring programs
- In-depth knowledge of NCAA eligibility criteria
- Leading efforts to assist students with diverse academic backgrounds
- Proven ability to engage with at-risk students using various instructional strategies
- Strong self-motivation, professionalism, and collaborative skills
- Facilitating workshops aimed at student-athlete development
