Position Overview
Willdan is seeking a Building Energy Efficiency Consultant to become part of our innovative and creative team. This role is pivotal in advising on energy-efficient building design alternatives and decarbonization strategies for new construction and significant renovation projects.

Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate directly with building owners, architects, and engineers to comprehend their energy conservation and decarbonization objectives.
- Manage a diverse portfolio of projects at various stages of the consulting process.
- Conduct energy simulation analyses and deliver model results efficiently.
- Prepare comprehensive reports detailing energy modeling and decarbonization findings along with design recommendations.

- Effectively communicate energy conservation strategies to both technical and non-technical team members, facilitating informed design decisions.
- Partner with project managers to ensure high-quality outcomes and deliverables.
- Maintain an understanding of California energy policies and codes (e.g., Title 24).

Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Building Science, or a closely related field.
- Familiarity with building design, construction processes, and/or building operations.
- Proven ability to interpret complex information accurately and make strategic recommendations to guide decision-making by identifying potential benefits, consequences, and impacts of alternative system options.

- Proficiency in tools such as MS Excel for manipulating model inputs and summarizing results.
- Knowledge of California energy codes and utility energy efficiency programs.
- Experience with energy modeling using various software such as CBECC-COM, EnergyPro, DOE-2, EnergyPlus, and eQuest for building consultations.
- Prior experience with California Savings by Design program is advantageous.
- Ability to manage a high volume of projects within tight timelines.
- Strong aptitude for balancing breadth and depth to deliver energy simulation results promptly.
- Understanding of thermodynamics, physics, and mathematics.
- Familiarity with energy codes and standards (Title 24, ASHRAE 55, 62.1, 90.1, 189.1) and utility-sponsored energy efficiency programs targeting new building designs.

Certifications
- Professional Engineer or Registered Architect or qualifications enabling licensure.
- Any of the following industry-related certifications are preferred:
- Certified Energy Manager (CEM)
- Building Energy Modeling Professional (BEMP)
- LEED Accredited Professional
- Building Energy Assessment Professional (BEAP)
- Commissioning Authority (CxA)
