Position: Senior Manager - Credit Financial Oversight

Company Overview: Capital One is on the lookout for a dedicated and driven professional to join our Controllers Accounting Department as a Senior Manager focusing on the Credit Financial Oversight function. This pivotal role is responsible for steering our internal and external financial reporting and analysis concerning loans classified as Financial Difficulty Modifications (FDMs), the rewards liability, and the legal reserve.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the FDM disclosure process to guarantee timely and precise external SEC and Regulatory reporting, including comprehensive analysis of activity, delinquency, and subsequent default data.
  • Assess new FDM programs for suitable classification in alignment with ASU standards.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in FDMs and Rewards Accounting.
  • Convey rewards liability outcomes to stakeholders on a quarterly basis.
  • Oversee journal entries and monthly account reconciliations.
  • Set team objectives and spearhead projects, influencing decisions on strategic imperatives or special topics.
  • Manage and develop your team to enhance associate performance, foster a positive work environment, and cultivate a high-performing team.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with business partners, including card accounting, SOX, tech, and finance, to gain insights into their processes and results.
  • Utilize new and existing technologies to improve reporting and analytics.
  • Support compliance efforts for management, internal audit, and external audit teams by providing necessary documentation and addressing inquiries.

General Responsibilities:
  • Foster connections across the team and organization to promote collaboration.
  • Apply sound business judgment to evaluate analytical results and formulate recommendations.
  • Share expertise and insights with business partners.
  • Collaborate with the team to prioritize projects and support large-scale Controllers initiatives.

Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or military experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, external financial reporting, audit, or finance, or a combination thereof.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.
  • 2+ years of experience in banking, financial services, or a combination thereof.
  • 1+ years of experience in people management.
  • 1+ years of experience with Accounting Systems such as Peoplesoft, SAP, or Oracle Financials.
  • 1+ years of experience with Reporting systems such as Onestream, Tableau, or Google Data Studio.
  • Ability to reach well-reasoned conclusions on financial reporting and disclosure issues.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Capability to coordinate work across a team and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Robust analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
