We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Full Charge Bookkeeper to join our dynamic team in the Bakersfield office.

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the guidance of the Bookkeeping Supervisor and Partners, the Full Charge Bookkeeper is responsible for a wide range of accounting and bookkeeping tasks. This role emphasizes quality client service and the maintenance of profitable relationships through the effective execution of assigned duties. Success in this position is measured by the quality of work produced, the application of bookkeeping expertise, and the ability to adhere to deadlines.

DEPARTMENT: BUSINESS SERVICES

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full-Time

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare and compile financial statements from General Ledgers, ensuring engagements are completed with a focus on quality, timeliness, and budget adherence.
  • Manage payroll processing, including payroll tax returns, W-2s, and Workers Compensation Reports.
  • Generate 1099s, Unsecured Property Tax Reports, City Business Tax Statements, and Census Reports.
  • Provide comprehensive accounting and bookkeeping support to clients, both on-site and remotely.
  • Prioritize tasks effectively to meet all deadlines.
  • Engage in client meetings and maintain direct communication.
  • Perform additional accounting and bookkeeping tasks as assigned by supervisory staff.
  • Keep the Bookkeeping Supervisor and Partners updated on significant developments, analyze issues, and propose solutions.

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Actively contribute to the firm’s business development initiatives and represent the firm at various professional and community events.
  • Engage with professional, charitable, and civic organizations to enhance the firm’s presence.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree or qualification in Bookkeeping or a related field, or a strong demonstration of relevant capabilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively interact with all levels of management, staff, clients, and external contacts.
  • Proficient in computer systems, accounting/bookkeeping software (such as QuickBooks), and tax software applications.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • 2-6 years of relevant full-charge bookkeeping experience or a combination of education and experience.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Valid California Driver's License and proof of insurance.
  • Strong proficiency in 10-Key data entry.
