Overview
Under the supervision of a designated manager, engage in intricate technical accounting tasks involving the preparation, processing, and upkeep of financial records for the College and District. The Senior Accounting Technician operates at a higher complexity level compared to the Accounting Technician I, handling more advanced accounting responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Maintain and oversee various financial ledgers, journals, and registers; ensure accurate posting, verification, and balancing of accounts.
2. Prepare daily financial entries based on sales receipts; manage credit card transactions through the accounts receivable system.
3. Validate account codes for payable invoices; process payments and update records accordingly.
4. Generate financial statements and supervise accounting operations for designated programs such as food services and retail operations.
5. Manage accounts payable and receivable throughout the fiscal period; analyze transaction requisitions for compliance with documentation and budgetary constraints.
6. Monitor budgets for various accounts; oversee billing processes for project reimbursements and ensure accurate coding of transactions.
7. Prepare and submit financial reports to state and county agencies; compile quarterly and annual financial summaries for various departments.
8. Input payroll data and manage payroll check distribution; coordinate tax documentation with the appropriate offices.
9. Reconcile bank statements and prepare necessary financial reports as required.
10. Process student refund requests and manage fee deferrals in collaboration with financial aid services.
11. Analyze cash flow and approve budget adjustments as necessary.
12. Supervise and mentor staff involved in cash handling and financial processing.
13. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required: A combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma with some college coursework in accounting or a related field, along with two years of progressively responsible experience in financial record management and reporting.
Knowledge and Skills
KNOWLEDGE OF: Principles and procedures of bookkeeping and accounting; general accounting practices; relevant laws and regulations; basic arithmetic; modern office practices and technology.
ABILITY TO: Maintain and balance diverse financial records; perform calculations with accuracy; audit financial documents; interpret financial data and reports; apply relevant laws and regulations; maintain comprehensive financial records; compile data for reporting purposes; operate office equipment effectively; communicate proficiently in both written and verbal forms; establish productive working relationships with colleagues.
SALARY RANGE: $4, $5,824.45 monthly. Maximum Entry Level Salary: $4,330.81 monthly.
