We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Full Charge Bookkeeper to join our team, based in our Bakersfield office.

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the guidance of the Bookkeeping Supervisor and Partners, the Full Charge Bookkeeper will manage a variety of accounting and bookkeeping tasks, ensuring high-quality service and fostering strong client relationships through the effective execution of engagement assignments. Success in this role is measured by the quality of work, application of bookkeeping expertise, and adherence to deadlines.

DEPARTMENT: BUSINESS SERVICES

Position Type: Full-Time

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Compile and prepare financial data from General Ledgers to Financial Statements, completing moderately complex engagements with a focus on quality, timeliness, and profitability.
  • Process Payroll, Payroll Tax Returns, W-2s, and Workers Compensation Reports.
  • Generate 1099s, Unsecured Property Tax Reports (571s), City Business Tax Statements, and Census Reports.
  • Provide bookkeeping and accounting support to clients, both on-site and remotely.
  • Prioritize tasks effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Engage in client meetings and maintain direct communication.
  • Perform additional accounting and bookkeeping duties as assigned by supervisory staff.
  • Keep the Bookkeeping Supervisor and Partners updated on significant developments, analyze issues, and propose solutions.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Contribute to the firm's business development initiatives and represent the firm at various professional and community events.
  • Participate in professional, charitable, and civic organizations to enhance the firm's visibility.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • A degree or qualification in Bookkeeping or a related field, or a strong demonstration of relevant capabilities.
  • Proven communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively interact with all levels of management, staff, clients, and external business contacts.
  • Experience with computer accounting/bookkeeping software (QuickBooks/QuickBooks Online) and tax software programs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2-6 years of experience in full-charge bookkeeping or related training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • A valid California Driver's License and proof of insurance.
  • Strong 10-Key typing skills.
