Position Overview

The EHS Compliance Specialist plays a crucial role in the formulation, execution, and management of comprehensive health, safety, environmental, and security compliance initiatives. This role encompasses conducting safety and compliance evaluations to mitigate risks, minimize liability claims, and ensure adherence to applicable local and state regulations. The EHS Compliance Specialist will collaborate across various departments to identify, devise, and implement corrective measures to alleviate potential hazards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the safety and compliance protocols of Green Thumb operations and personnel.
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance programs related to EHS functions.
  • Create and enforce standards and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Implement both corporate and local policies, procedures, and best practices to foster a culture of safety and compliance.
  • Work alongside management and corporate compliance teams to address concerns, issues, or violations, including remediation strategies.
  • Review and authorize any procedural deviations and submit requests for SOP revisions as necessary.
  • Manage processes such as the NDA Process and Chemical Approval Process, among others.
  • Assemble teams or experts to investigate and formulate corrective actions for identified safety, environmental, or compliance risks.
  • Lead, train, and develop staff to ensure proficient performance, fostering motivation through exemplary personal conduct and interpersonal skills.
  • Oversee first responder, safety, and engagement initiatives.
  • Analyze facility trends to identify areas of potential non-compliance.
  • Compile monthly reports detailing the facility's compliance progress.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of all relevant regulations.
  • Conduct audits and document findings in a clear and organized manner.
  • Engage with local, state, and federal authorities as necessary.
  • Support operations to ensure the safety of the facility.
  • Collaborate with third-party vendors to ensure employee safety.
  • Develop and implement safety initiatives.
  • Assist in internal investigations related to security incidents.
  • Stay informed on changes in regulations and compliance requirements.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Associate Degree in Administration, Environmental Health, or related fields, with a minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Preferred background includes at least 4 years in law enforcement, with an Act 120 certification or diploma from an accredited Municipal Police Academy.
  • At least 6 months of experience in an operational environment focusing on the development and implementation of SOPs and compliance procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong critical thinking abilities.
  • Demonstrates professionalism and integrity, particularly when handling confidential information.
  • Comprehension of and compliance with the rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of Green Thumb.
  • Solid understanding of cannabis laws, regulations, and a commitment to ongoing education in the field.
Additional Requirements
  • Successful completion of all required background checks.
  • Compliance with all legal and company regulations for industry participation.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
  • Minimum age of 21 years.
  • Approval from the state badging agency to work in the cannabis sector.
