Facilities Manager

Braille Institute of America is seeking a highly skilled Facilities Manager to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of accessibility and positively impacting the lives of individuals with vision loss.

About the Opportunity

This is a unique opportunity to lead the development and execution of a facility business plan to maximize the use of facilities in accordance with organizational program and financial goals. You will oversee facility renovations and construction, ensuring that all projects are completed on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Execute a Facility Business Plan: Create a comprehensive plan to maximize the use of facilities, aligning with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Oversee Facility Renovations and Construction: Lead the renovation and construction process, ensuring that all projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Maintain Facilities and Equipment: Direct the maintenance of grounds, facilities, equipment, and materials to meet or exceed requirements and standards of authorities.
  • Ensure Compliance with Regulations: Ensure that facility operations meet or exceed required federal, state, and local laws, and regulations, and industry accreditation standards.
  • Lead the Safety Committee and Emergency Response Team: Act as a key member of the Safety Committee and Emergency Response Team, ensuring that all facilities are compliant with safety standards and emergency protocol.
Requirements
  • A four-year college degree or the equivalent in additional work experience is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and construction as it applies to commercial buildings, as well as related codes and compliance with OSHA rules and regulations is required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and negotiation skills, and strong leadership skills are essential.
  • At least ten years of progressively responsible experience in all areas of facilities management including HVAC, plumbing, electrical and construction is strongly preferred.
