Position Title
Lead CAE Specialist in Electric Machine and Power Systems

Position Overview
The Lead CAE Specialist will focus on the analytical and numerical evaluation of automotive electric motors and inverters. Responsibilities will encompass electromagnetic, thermal, and mechanical analysis, as well as multidisciplinary optimization to ensure compliance with customer specifications and internal standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a CAE authority concentrating on the design and development of traction motors and power electronics.
  • Oversee and coordinate CAE execution for electric machine and power electronics projects within Hybrid & Electric Vehicle initiatives.
  • Develop cutting-edge simulation methodologies and tools aimed at creating efficient, power-dense, and cost-effective traction motors and power electronics.
  • Utilize simulation software to analyze and enhance traction motor designs, focusing on electromagnetic performance while considering package, NVH, thermal, and structural constraints.
  • Establish and maintain Advanced Development Plans and Reports (ADVP&Rs) for various projects, coordinating CAE activities across simulation teams to deliver results and program updates to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Systems, Controls, and Advanced Engineering teams to lead necessary simulation efforts for the development of standardized platform solutions.
  • Drive continuous improvement in test-analysis correlation to enhance analysis accuracy.
  • Document CAE methodologies and provide training to fellow analysts within the department.
  • Refine CAE processes and integrate them with other engineering and corporate procedures in collaboration with other Power Electronics departments.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of seven years of experience in automotive traction motor and power electronics CAE; Ph.D. is preferred.
  • Proven expertise in the design, development, and analysis of automotive traction motors and power electronics.
  • Comprehensive understanding of various traction motor and power electronics technologies utilized in the automotive sector.
  • Proficient in simulation tools such as Ansys Maxwell, MotorCAD, Matlab, Simulink, Q3D, Twin-builder, or equivalent.
  • Ability to prepare training materials and provide coaching and technical support to other analysts in the CAE division.
  • Achieve a 95% Advanced Development First Time Quality (ADV FTQ) rate and recommend improvements for efficiency and cost reduction.
  • Effectively communicate analysis findings to management, ensuring designs meet established targets and reviewing analysis results critically.
  • Strong organizational skills and excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
