About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Healthcare Access Specialist to join our team at UnitedHealth Group. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in ensuring that patients receive the care they need to live healthier lives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Resolve Patient Issues: Answer 50-70 calls from patients, resolving moderate to complex issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Schedule and Verify Appointments: Schedule and verify appointments in our clinical information system, ensuring seamless coordination with healthcare providers.
  • Patient Data Management: Verify and update patient demographic and insurance information, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Referral and Task Management: Send and receive tasks to Provider offices to assist patients with access to medical care, and receive and process stat and at-risk referrals.
  • Communication and Follow-up: Contact patients to inform them of appointment and referral status, and provide proactive responses to inquiries from patients, providers, and internal medical personnel.
  • Data Entry and Processing: Perform extreme high volume data entry, and process and resolve expedited patient complaints.
  • Medication Refill Processing: Review and process medication refills, ensuring timely and accurate fulfillment of patient needs.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: High School Diploma/GED or equivalent work experience, with 1+ years of experience with computer and Windows PC applications, and 1+ years of experience with electronic medical record systems.
  • Work Schedule: Ability to work our normal business hours of 8:00am - 5:00pm, with occasional overtime or weekend work as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Related Experience: 1+ years of experience in a related environment, such as office, administrative, clerical, customer service, or healthcare.
  • Healthcare Experience: Prior healthcare experience, with knowledge of electronic medical record systems and healthcare operations.
  • Language Skills: Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish, with ability to communicate effectively with patients and healthcare providers.
