POSITION SUMMARY

The Medical Receptionist serves as the initial point of contact for patients at Charles Drew Health Center, embodying the role of the Director of First Impressions, both via phone and in-person interactions. The primary responsibility is to ensure that exceptional customer service is delivered consistently. This role involves providing a high level of reception services to patients and staff in a positive and supportive manner.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Exhibit outstanding customer service skills.
  • Demonstrate effective communication abilities and collaborate well with colleagues.
  • Manage appointment scheduling using the clinic's practice management software.
  • Organize and maintain patient records and documentation efficiently.
  • Handle inquiries with professionalism and efficiency.
  • Greet and assist patients and visitors courteously and promptly.
  • Collect and accurately document patient co-payments, ensuring daily reconciliation of transactions.
  • Monitor patient no-shows and cancellations.
  • Meet performance goals related to appointment creation and rescheduling.
  • Maintain confidentiality and approach sensitive client issues with care and respect.
  • Educate clients about available services and associated fees.
  • Conduct thorough assessments to determine insurance eligibility and financial responsibilities.
  • Utilize various information technology systems to support appointment processing.
  • Ensure clients are informed of follow-up needs as indicated in the practice management system.
  • Refer patients to internal service providers as necessary.
  • Adhere to all relevant policies and guidelines.
  • Participate in routine meetings and training sessions.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education: High School Diploma required.

Experience: Minimum of three years in customer service, preferably in a healthcare setting.

Skills: Strong communication and organizational skills; familiarity with medical terminology and practice management software is preferred.

Language: Proficiency in English; knowledge of additional languages is a plus.

Work Hours: Full-time position with varying hours.
