About the Role:

As a Patient Access Professional at Methodist Health System, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth registration process for patients. Your primary responsibility will be to register and dismiss patients in a courteous and timely manner, creating accurate patient records through verification of patient demographics, financial, and visit information. You will also be responsible for electronically verifying payer source/eligibility, patient financial responsibility, and performing point of service collections as appropriate. Additionally, you will ensure a high level of customer service in accordance with the mission and vision of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

Registration and Insurance Verification:
  • Register patients accurately and in a timely manner, ensuring all demographic and payer information is correct in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Verify insurance eligibility using electronic work queues and update the electronic registration record and scan insurance cards into the registration record.
  • Complete Medicare Secondary Payer questionnaire and other payer-specific documents as required.

Customer Service and Communication:
  • Provide excellent customer service to patients, responding to their needs and concerns in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Communicate patient financial responsibility in a respectful and courteous manner and perform point of service collections according to policy.

Teamwork and Adaptability:
  • Work collaboratively with the clinical team to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Be adaptable to changing situations and priorities, maintaining a positive attitude and providing excellent customer service in all interactions.

Requirements:

Education:
  • High school diploma, General Educational Development (G.E.D.) or equivalent preferred.
Experience:
  • Previous healthcare registration, customer service, insurance, or billing experience required.
  • Medical terminology preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong computer skills, including ability to navigate Outlook, attachments in Word and Excel, and utilize a scanner and copier.
  • Basic mathematics skills to support collections of payments.
  • Ability to work independently and collect data from patients required for entry into the system.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
