The Medication Administration Specialist plays a vital role in supporting residents by assisting them with essential daily tasks that they may struggle to perform independently.

This position involves the careful administration of daily medications, monitoring residents' health, reporting any changes, and collecting necessary samples. The ideal candidate will be meticulous, knowledgeable about resident care protocols, and possess strong communication abilities.

What You'll Do

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Administer routine daily medications, including both prescription and over-the-counter options, to residents
  • Accurately document medication dosages and administration times
  • Monitor residents closely and record any changes in their health status
  • Collect samples for laboratory analysis as required
  • Ensure that all medical equipment is regularly inspected and maintained
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations
  • Comply with federal, state, and agency guidelines to safeguard personal and resident health
  • Collaborate with nursing staff to provide comprehensive resident care and medication management
  • Follow both written and verbal instructions for medication administration
  • Respond promptly to resident emergency signals to assess their needs
  • Maintain confidentiality of resident information unless disclosure is necessary for safety and welfare
  • Seek assistance from nursing staff as needed to ensure safe and effective task execution
  • Responsibilities encompass customer service, medication administration, caregiving, resident safety, and effective communication
What You'll Bring

POSITION REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS

  • Completion of a state-approved Medication Aide training program and authorization to assist with or administer oral and topical medications in accordance with state regulations
  • Demonstrated proficiency in medication administration as per state guidelines
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred, though may be mandatory in certain jurisdictions
  • Candidates must be at least 18 years old, or meet the age requirement set by state regulations, whichever is greater
  • Experience working independently, as part of a team, and managing projects from inception to completion
  • Strong emotional intelligence and active listening skills
  • Commitment to the healthcare field, particularly in providing care to residents
  • Successful completion of state and company background checks and drug screening
  • Ability to take vital signs
  • Experience assisting residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)
  • Medication oversight within the scope of state regulations
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding the English language
