Position Overview
AWS Specialist Solutions Architects (SSAs) are experts with profound domain-specific knowledge, capable of tackling intricate concepts and feature designs. As integral members of the AWS sales organization, SSAs engage with clients facing complex challenges that necessitate expert-level insights to resolve.
Key Responsibilities
SSAs develop scalable, adaptable, and robust technical architectures to meet these challenges. This may include guiding clients in refactoring applications or designing entirely new cloud-based systems.
- Act as the customer advocate; provide feedback to product teams to shape feature development and future product direction.
- Deliver advanced technical expertise to domain-aligned go-to-market teams to address our clients' most significant business challenges.
- Lead technical pre-sales discussions with AWS clients, assisting them in defining cloud operating models that utilize AWS services while adhering to AWS operational and security best practices.
- Serve as a thought leader by sharing best practices through various platforms such as AWS blogs, whitepapers, reference architectures, and public speaking engagements at events like AWS Summit and AWS re:Invent.
- Collaborate with Business Development teams to outline the technical components of top-tier go-to-market strategies, solutions, and initiatives.
- Foster and support a global community of technical subject matter experts within AWS, creating enablement materials for the broader Solutions Architect community to facilitate the integration of Amazon Web Services solutions into client architectures.
About the Team
This role is part of the Worldwide Specialist Team within the Worldwide Specialist Organization (WWSO), where you will spearhead the global go-to-market strategy for AWS Managed Services (AMS). AMS is designed to assist clients in adopting AWS at scale while operating more efficiently and securely using AWS services.
Your Impact
You will lead specialists, architects, partners, and account teams globally, establishing direction and standards for addressing customer challenges in the CloudOps domain. Collaborating with technical and business teams across AWS, you will ensure the voice of the customer is integrated into our product development roadmap.
Qualifications
Basic qualifications include:
- 8+ years of experience in specific technology domains (e.g., software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics).
- 7+ years of experience in design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures.
- 2+ years of technical experience in cloud operations, cloud governance, or managed services.
Preferred qualifications include:
- A proven track record of successful technical consulting and/or architecture engagements with large-scale clients or enterprises.
- Experience in migrating or transforming legacy client solutions to the cloud.
- Familiarity with common enterprise services and a working knowledge of software development tools and methodologies.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with comfort in discussions with executives, IT management, and developers.
- Experience in software development or internet-related industries.
- AWS Solution Architecture certification or relevant cloud expertise.
- Experience engaging with end users or developer communities.
- A degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
