This position reports to

Process and Product Engineering Manager

Your role and responsibilities

In this position, you will have the chance to enhance the Production organization's assembly techniques, workflows, and machinery to reduce labor hours in alignment with business strategies focused on quality, efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and safety. Daily, you will ensure suitable production methods, cycle times, equipment efficiency, and materials/components to meet production goals. You will also demonstrate your expertise by outlining the sequence of operations for a new production process to achieve the desired product cost and equipment investment budget. The work model for this role is: onsite. Your contributions will support the Electrification Smart Power sector in North America. Your main responsibilities will include:
• Fostering a lean culture within the plant by influencing, collaborating, and communicating with employees at all levels.
• Assessing production line balance, providing takt time, routings, production tools, and gathering data on production interruptions, while analyzing root causes of productivity and ROTD loss to implement corrective measures.
• Collaborating with Material, Production, and process teams to support and develop new assembly methods and create technical documentation.
• Conducting Value Stream Mapping for processes and eliminating process waste. Executing and implementing 6S programs, Kaizen events, and root cause analysis.

Qualifications for the role
  • Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering or a related STEM field with a minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in lean manufacturing or operations.
  • Proven ability to work within and/or lead cross-functional teams and influence decision-making.
  • Quick learner with aptitude in manufacturing software and hardware tools such as CAD/ProE/Windchill/SAP, etc.
  • Familiarity with value stream mapping, one-piece flow, Kaizen, Gemba, 6S, and other lean methodologies.
  • Previous experience with production processes (Layout, Automation, Lean projects).
  • Candidates must possess work authorization that allows them to work for ABB in the US.
