DuPont's Spruance site, located in Richmond, VA is looking for Process Engineer to join our Nomex line of business in the manufacturing technology group support the Nomex Fiber and Paper manufacturing processes.

Nomex is a meta-aramid polymer with unique fire-retardant properties in addition to very strong thermal and chemical stability.

In Richmond, this polymer is made into both a fiber and a paper with end uses primarily in personal protective garments and high temperature electrical insulation.

The unique properties of Nomex in both forms make it extremely desirable in these end uses and a premium product in these markets.

This role will be exposed to the entirety of the manufacturing processes for both the paper and fiber forms as part of the larger manufacturing technology group but will have primary responsibility in a subsection of the chemicals operation that supports these production lines (with special emphasis on separations processes) as the technology and process safety management compliance owner.


In these capacities, this role will provide engineering support for Root Cause Investigations (RCIs), collaborates across Manufacturing Technology (MT), Operations, Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S), Research and Development (R&D), etc.

This role is the first contact in MT for advanced troubleshooting and supports raw materials qualification or trials for new products for the Nomex Fibers and Paper processes.


Your Key Responsibilities:
Applies knowledge of the Nomex technology to define and implement solutions for PSM, R&M, and Grow and Improve projects.
Leads and participates in front end loading of capital projects. Functions as MT lead or co-lead for duration for capital project through design, installation, commissioning, and startup.
Provides technical inputs into Business Technology Plan to meet production goals.
Provides technical input into Multi-Generational Technology Plan.
Participates in Process Hazards Analysis (PHAs) or leads as appropriate.
First contact in Manufacturing Technology (MT) for advanced troubleshooting for Operations.
Responsible for providing technical training and coaching to Operations Engineers and Technical staff.
Provide required engineering support for Root Cause Investigations (RCI's).
Leads or supports raw material qualification or trials for new products.
Validates technical solutions and documents results to drive toward a standardized Process Technology.
Provides technical input for Management of Change and leads where appropriate.
Lead or Participate in Project Reviews.
Collaborates across MT, Operations, EH&S, R&D, etc.
Provides support for analyzers and air monitoring instruments critical to safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications:


BS in Chemical Engineering preferred or BS in Engineering field with significant process technology experience in distillation as direct process support (5+ years).

2+ years of Manufacturing Experience preferred with experience in separations processes.
Nomex Line of business experience preferred but not required.
Process Safety Management (High Hazard Process/Low Hazard Operation) experience.
