POSITION TITLE:
Chief Clinical Officer
Medical Director

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Clinical Officer is accountable for partnering with the Site Director to ensure exceptional patient care standards at their facility.

In addition to standard physician responsibilities, key areas of focus include overseeing and nurturing the clinical team, managing clinical operations, and driving system enhancements at the facility.

Responsible for diagnosing and treating patients within the parameters of their medical license.

Engages in Provider meetings, quality assurance sessions, and other professional gatherings as required to foster team collaboration.

Provides support for mid-level providers on-site or via phone during business hours or after hours when on call.


Supervises providers:

welcomes new providers, addresses staff and provider inquiries, oversees the probationary phase, and offers constructive feedback, evaluations, and implements performance improvement and disciplinary measures as necessary.

Facilitates the professional growth of clinical staff, including creating opportunities for continued education.

Leads provider and staff meetings, spearheads quality improvement initiatives and training sessions, and other site projects as directed by the Chief Executive Officer.

Ensures the overall quality of patient care and operational efficiency at the facility.
Conducts or delegates laboratory reviews and assesses urgent lab results as required.

Conducts or delegates annual evaluations for all providers, including chart reviews for new providers and advanced practice nursing staff, and covers for providers on leave.

Takes a proactive role in the recruitment and hiring processes for temporary providers, staff physicians, and organizational leaders.
Addresses variances and sentinel events in collaboration with the Risk Management Committee.

Participates in residency meetings, including operational discussions, training, and faculty gatherings to serve as a liaison and strengthen existing collaborative relationships.

Conducts or delegates the completion of billing, forms, orders, and referrals on behalf of resident trainees as necessary based on regulatory standards.

Responsible for the operational and financial performance of the clinical facility.
Operations and System Enhancement
Supervise and develop non-clinical personnel at the assigned locations.
Provide leadership for cross-site departments, including guidance, training, performance management, and development of all assigned staff.
Must be knowledgeable about the Collective Bargaining Agreement in supervising any union-represented staff. Responsible for the timely and accurate submission of timekeeping processes to payroll.
Engage in ongoing training.
Collaborate with community partners on regional and local initiatives related to clinical quality improvement in a cooperative manner.

The responsibilities outlined above are intended solely as examples of the various types of work that may be undertaken.

Active California medical license in good standing with the Medical Board of the State of California; or Active Nursing License, in good standing with the Nursing Board of the State of California, along with an active Nurse Practitioner license and Furnishing license in the State of California.

Clinical management experience or training is preferred.
Familiarity with residency training program curriculum and ACGME requirements for trainees and US residency training programs is beneficial.
Experience with electronic medical records, particularly eClinicalWorks, is preferred.
Demonstrated proficiency with all tasks on the most current Medical Director competency list.
Intermediate proficiency in Spanish (speaking, reading, and writing) is preferred.
Demonstrates understanding of compliance issues within the community clinic setting.
Shows a commitment to reporting any incidents that deviate from accepted clinic procedures.
Adheres to HIPAA regulations.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Strong organizational abilities with the capacity to prioritize tasks, work independently, manage multiple responsibilities, and meet deadlines.
