POSITION SUMMARY:

The Ski and Ride School Operations Manager is tasked with overseeing the daily functions of lesson plans alongside instructors, as well as managing the Children's Center at Granby Ranch. This role is crucial in ensuring the success of the Ski and Ride School division by focusing on guest satisfaction, staff development, proper delivery of Ski and Ride School services, and maintaining the safety and security of all guests, children, and employees involved.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Consistently adhere to all safety protocols and standards, including safe loading and unloading of lifts.
  • Assist in managing and administering operations to create a successful, professional, and efficient experience for members, guests, and employees, encompassing adult, youth, and children's ski and ride programs.
  • Support the hiring, training, and development of all staff members.
  • Lead daily briefings, manage fencing, ticketing, rentals, and oversee clean-up of indoor and outdoor areas.
  • Help direct reports in establishing annual goals that align with Granby Ranch's objectives and departmental vision.
  • Provide constructive feedback to staff and recognize outstanding performance.
  • Participate actively in all operational meetings and company functions.
  • Communicate relevant information to staff to ensure effective dissemination of resort activities, events, and updates.
  • Ensure accurate tracking of revenues, expenses, and company assets.
  • Facilitate a seamless guest experience in the Rental Shop, ensuring Ski and Ride School staff are visible and engaged in assisting guests.
  • Contribute to the development of Ski and Ride School policies and procedures to guarantee safety, accuracy, accountability, and security for Granby Ranch, members, guests, and employees.
  • Ensure daily compliance with departmental operating standards and meet with employees weekly to discuss improvements.
  • Document any deviations from policies and procedures and administer disciplinary actions as necessary.
  • Uphold and enforce child safety regulations and mandatory reporting requirements.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prioritize safety and security at all times.
  • Plan for future growth and development.
  • Conduct lessons as assigned.
  • Serve as a positive, professional role model, upholding the company's hospitality standards.
  • Maintain exceptional guest service in all interactions with guests, colleagues, and management.
  • Support other departments during races, events, and peak operational days.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proficient in skiing/snowboarding to effectively teach lessons.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact courteously with staff and guests.
  • Familiarity with PSIA/AASI teaching methodologies.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities.
  • Capability to supervise in a dynamic environment.
  • Maintain a positive demeanor when engaging with guests, students, and staff.
  • Effective verbal communication skills.
  • Active listening skills to understand and respond appropriately.
  • Logical reasoning to evaluate various solutions and approaches.
  • Adapt actions based on others' behaviors.
  • Proactively seek ways to assist others.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
  • Effective written communication tailored to the audience's needs.
  • Instruct on safe loading and unloading of ski lifts.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Recruiting, training, evaluating, and disciplining employees.
  • Coaching, motivating, and developing staff.
  • Overseeing the scheduling of instructors and general staffing.
  • Verifying work activities and resolving issues.
  • Supervising approximately 40-80 instructors and staff.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • College degree preferred.
  • PSIA/AASI certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience teaching snow sports lessons required.
  • Preferred 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Experience working with children is required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to perform strenuous activities at elevations of 8,000-10,000 feet in adverse weather conditions.
  • Capability to lift up to 35 lbs.
  • Dexterity for using ski equipment and keyboards.
  • Effective verbal and auditory communication skills.
  • Physical activities include skiing, walking, kneeling, climbing, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, sitting, and standing.
  • Must provide personal ski/ride equipment and clothing suitable for outdoor work in winter conditions.
  • Availability for weekend and holiday work is required.
