POSITION SUMMARY:

The Ski and Ride School Operations Manager is tasked with overseeing the daily execution of lesson plans alongside instructors, as well as managing the Children's Center operations at Granby Ranch. This role is pivotal in ensuring the success of the Ski and Ride School division, focusing on guest satisfaction, employee development, and the safe delivery of services to our guests.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Consistently adhere to all safety protocols and standards, including safe loading and unloading of lifts.
  • Assist in managing operations to create a professional and efficient experience for members, guests, and employees, covering adult, youth, and children's ski and ride programs.
  • Support the recruitment, training, and development of all staff members.
  • Lead daily operations, including line-ups, fencing, ticketing, rentals, and maintaining cleanliness in both indoor and outdoor areas.
  • Collaborate with direct reports to establish annual goals that align with Granby Ranch's vision.
  • Provide constructive feedback to staff and recognize outstanding performance.
  • Participate actively in operational meetings and required company events.
  • Disseminate information to staff to ensure everyone is informed about resort activities, events, and changes.
  • Ensure accurate tracking of revenues, expenses, and company assets.
  • Facilitate a seamless guest experience in the Rental Shop by ensuring Ski and Ride School staff are visible and actively assisting guests.
  • Contribute to the development of Ski and Ride School policies and procedures to ensure safety, accuracy, and accountability.
  • Monitor departmental standards daily and meet with employees weekly to discuss improvements.
  • Document any deviations from policies and procedures and manage disciplinary actions as necessary.
  • Uphold child safety laws and mandatory reporting requirements.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prioritize safety and security at all times.
  • Plan for future growth and development.
  • Conduct lessons as assigned.
  • Serve as a positive role model, adhering to the company's hospitality standards.
  • Maintain exceptional guest service in all interactions.
  • Support other departments during events and high-volume days.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proficient in skiing/snowboarding to effectively teach lessons.
  • Strong communication skills and courteous interaction with staff and guests.
  • Knowledge of PSIA/AASI teaching methodologies.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities.
  • Capability to supervise in a dynamic environment.
  • Maintain a positive demeanor when engaging with guests, students, and staff.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to teach safe loading and unloading of ski lifts.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee hiring, training, and performance management of employees.
  • Provide coaching, motivation, and development opportunities.
  • Manage scheduling for all instructors and overall staffing.
  • Verify work activities and resolve issues as they arise.
  • Supervise approximately 40-80 instructors and staff.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred.
  • PSIA/AASI certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience teaching snow sports lessons required.
  • 2 years of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience working with children is essential.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to perform strenuous activities at high altitudes (8,000-10,000 feet) in adverse weather conditions.
  • Capable of lifting up to 35 lbs.
  • Dexterity for using ski equipment and technology.
  • Effective verbal and auditory communication skills.
  • Physical activities include skiing, walking, kneeling, climbing, and lifting.
  • Must provide own ski/ride equipment and clothing suitable for outdoor work in winter conditions.
  • Weekend and holiday availability is required.
