Job Title: VP, Legal

Job Summary:

The VP, Legal will lead a talented team of lawyers and legal professionals supporting the US business unit. This role requires a strong understanding of contract principles, insurance law, and regulatory requirements applicable to the P&C industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage attorneys and legal professionals on the P&C Legal team, developing talent and promoting a culture of integrity and teamwork in line with the Hiscox values.
  • Provide strategic advice and counsel to senior business and legal colleagues on regulatory matters and developments of significant impact.
  • Oversight of regulatory complaint management and company response to regulatory inquiries; lead management of regulatory audits including financial and market conduct.
  • Collaborate with functional areas such as UW, Claims, Risk, Marketing and Compliance to support marketing and product initiatives.
  • Maintain close working relationships with internal clients, working strategically and in collaboration with various business areas to resolve legal issues.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of P&C insurance industry experience in a law firm and/or in-house legal department, with at least 2+ years of people management experience.
  • JD from an accredited law school and admitted to practice law in at least one state.
  • Ability to develop and execute legal strategy and objectives.
