About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our Battery Engineering group at Apple. As a key member of our team, you will design, develop, and test battery monitoring units and Battery Management Units (BMUs) for next-generation consumer electronic products.

Responsibilities
  • Design electronic circuits and produce detailed design analysis for battery monitoring units and BMUs.
  • Select electronic parts and integrated circuits to meet performance targets.
  • Work with suppliers to develop custom parts where needed.
  • Design test methodologies to verify the battery management unit design.
  • Collaborate with multi-functional partners to ensure the product is developed on time and on budget.
  • Conduct investigations and prepare reports for problems or issues.
  • Develop schematics and BOMs to satisfy design requirements.
  • Develop layout guidelines for PCBs and guide Layout Engineers to meet all physical and electrical requirements of BMUs.
  • Specify custom parts and PCBs for use in BMUs.
  • Analyze the design with simulation tools and calculations to verify its conformance to requirements.
  • Conduct design validation on prototypes to implement the design.
  • Conduct design reviews, incorporate team feedback, and release design documents for builds.
  • Specify production test methods and limits and work with CM partners to realize design.
Requirements
  • BS + 3 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Experience in analog and/or power electronics design.
  • Schematic capture and PCB layout design for mixed-signal boards.
  • Design validation of new silicon and prototype bring-up.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Strong EE fundamentals in electronic circuit design/development with microcontroller-based embedded systems.
  • Good knowledge of inter-module communications protocols.
  • Experience with high-volume manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of scripting for test automation and data analysis.
