Battery Management System Electrical Engineer

Are you passionate about innovation and self-challenge? As part of our Battery Engineering team, you will design and develop creative battery solutions that deliver more energy in smaller spaces than ever before.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop battery monitoring units and Battery Management Units (BMUs) for next-generation consumer electronic products.
  • Collaborate with multi-functional partners to ensure timely and budget-friendly product development.
  • Conduct investigations and prepare reports for problems or issues.
  • Develop schematics and BOMs to satisfy design requirements.
  • Develop layout guidelines for PCBs and guide Layout Engineers to meet all physical and electrical requirements of BMUs.
  • Specify custom parts and PCBs for use in BMUs.
  • Analyze designs with simulation tools and calculations to verify conformance to requirements.
  • Conduct design validation on prototypes to implement designs.
  • Conduct design reviews, incorporate team feedback, and release design documents for builds.
  • Specify production test methods and limits and work with CM partners to realize designs.
Requirements:
  • BS + 3 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Experience in analog and/or power electronics design.
  • Schematic capture and PCB layout design for mixed-signal boards (Cadence, Altium, Eagle, etc.).
  • Design validation of new silicon and prototype bring-up.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advanced Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Strong EE fundamentals in electronic circuit design/development with microcontroller-based embedded systems.
  • Good knowledge of inter-module communications protocols (I2C, SMBus, SPMI, etc.).
  • Experience with high-volume manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of scripting (Python, Shell, Unix, MATLAB, etc.) for test automation and data analysis.

  • Strong documentation and communication skills.
  • Proven track record working independently under high pressure and comfortable working in a dynamic environment.

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $129,600 and $236,300, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
