Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Lead Nurse to join our team at UT Health Science Center. As a Clinical Lead Nurse, you will play a critical role in providing comprehensive care to patients and families with complex healthcare needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical leadership and guidance to nursing staff in a collaborative interdisciplinary team environment.
  • Develop and implement nursing policies, procedures, and competencies to ensure high-quality patient care.
  • Assist in formulating goals and objectives to meet both qualitative and quantitative outcomes.
  • Participate in the development of nursing and clinical policies, procedures, and competencies.
  • Prepare and maintain records and reports concerning operations.
  • Remain abreast of developments and evidence-based practice by attending seminars and workshops, communicating with peers, and reading pertinent literature.
  • Ensure the efficient operation of the clinic or unit by proper scheduling and planning for optimum use of equipment, staff, and resources.
  • Use systematic approach to provide nursing care to patients and families/populations by performing focused and comprehensive assessments.
  • Prioritize, synthesize, and document assessments and nursing plan of care using critical thinking and judgment.
  • Implement plan of care within scope of practice through assignment and monitoring of other nurses and delegation and supervision of unlicensed staff.
  • Initiate standing orders for prescription refills and labs as well as standing delegation orders where appropriate.
  • Develop and implement teaching plans concerning maintenance, promotion, and restoration of health.
  • Communicate effectively with collaborative team while escalating critical results and issues in an appropriate and timely manner.
  • Exercise judgment while coordinating care and referring patients to agencies or healthcare professionals for other services/transitions in care where indicated.
  • Perform onsite and telephone triage using best practice guidelines and documentation to ensure patients receive the right level of care in the right setting at the right time by the right caregiver using the right equipment and supplies.
  • Act as a patient and healthcare advocate by maintaining a safe environment and promoting quality healthcare and services.
  • Respect and maintain privacy and confidentiality per HIPAA guidelines.
  • Adhere to the standard of practice for professional nursing.
  • Act as a clinical and leadership resource for team members.
Requirements
  • Current nursing licensure in the State of Texas.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certified.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certified preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited School of Nursing plus two years of nursing experience, OR, Associate's degree in nursing from an accredited School of Nursing plus four years of nursing experience, OR, Nursing diploma (three-year program) plus three years of nursing experience.
  • Two years of nursing experience with a BSN, OR, three years of nursing experience with a Nursing Diploma, OR, four years of nursing experience with an ADN.
Physical Requirements

Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
