Position Summary

Westminster Communities of Florida is seeking a dedicated Nursing Operations Supervisor to join our esteemed retirement community. The primary role of this position is to manage and coordinate nursing services for our residents, ensuring the highest standards of care are met while overseeing daily nursing operations within designated units of the Nurse Center. The Nursing Operations Supervisor may also serve as the interim Director of Nursing when necessary.

Responsibilities include adhering to all relevant rules, policies, standards, and guidelines associated with employment at Westminster Communities of Florida.
Key Responsibilities
1. Direct and oversee the daily activities of nursing staff in accordance with current regulations governing Skilled Nursing Facilities.
2. Ensure compliance with established policies and procedures by all nursing personnel in the assigned care area.
3. Collaborate in the development and review of care plans that outline goals, issues, strategies, and adjustments based on nursing assessments.
4. Provide professional nursing services as required, within the scope of practice.
5. Conduct meetings with nursing staff to plan services, programs, and activities for the shift, ensuring all tasks are completed as directed.
6. Work with interdisciplinary team members to maintain the comprehensive care regimen for residents.
7. Oversee the quality and accuracy of electronic health records for all residents and staff under supervision.
8. Manage and enhance unit-specific performance metrics reported by the facility (e.g., falls, pressure ulcers, quality measures, re-hospitalizations).
9. If designated, serve as the Infection Preventionist, coordinating the infection prevention and control program as mandated by state and federal regulations.
10. Supervise the quality of resident admissions, transfers, and discharges.
11. Assist in orienting new residents and their families to the unit.
12. Conduct daily clinical and environmental rounds to assess resident care and document significant occurrences.
13. Monitor the use of psychotropic medications, including behavioral assessments, obtaining consents, and tracking side effects.
14. Address resident and family concerns promptly, escalating significant issues to the Director of Nursing.
15. Communicate with healthcare practitioners to review treatment plans, complete orders, and document progress notes in line with established policies.
16. Ensure the completion of incident reports involving residents and report to risk management for necessary follow-up.
17. Prepare monthly recapitulations for physician signatures and report discrepancies to the Director of Nursing.
18. Ensure an adequate supply of medications, supplies, and equipment is available to meet resident care needs.
19. Conduct performance evaluations for nursing staff.
20. Provide recommendations to the Director of Nursing regarding employee discipline, termination, or transfers.

Essential Qualifications

• Ability to make independent decisions while following instructions and accepting guidance.

• Strong interpersonal skills to interact tactfully with employees, residents, families, visitors, and regulatory agencies.

• Capability to work effectively with individuals who are ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally distressed, or potentially hostile.

• Proficiency in speaking, writing, and understanding English for effective communication with supervisors, staff, residents, and families.
Education and Experience Requirements

• Must hold a current, unencumbered RN license in the State of Florida and be CPR certified.

• Minimum of 3 years of long-term care experience as a staff nurse, with at least 6 months in a leadership role (direct or indirect care). Supervisory experience is preferred.
