Position Overview
This role involves overseeing a team of attorneys specializing primarily in acquisition law, along with other practice areas within the Office of the General Counsel (OGC), such as civilian personnel law, fiscal law, and ethics.

Key Responsibilities
You will be tasked with managing and resolving legal issues across various OGC practice areas, including but not limited to the Freedom of Information Act, environmental law, intellectual property law, and the assessment of non-FAR based agreements.

Employment Conditions
Applicants must be U.S. citizens and deemed suitable for federal employment. Participation in the direct deposit pay program is mandatory. New hires to the Department of the Navy must successfully complete the E-Verify employment verification process.

It is essential to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to starting the position. Failure to secure the required clearance may lead to withdrawal of the job offer or termination of employment.

This position may require travel to various locations, including remote or isolated sites, and candidates must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended durations.

Qualifications
To qualify, candidates should possess a minimum of five and a half years of relevant legal experience in one or more of the following areas: acquisition law, fiscal law, and ethics.

Evaluation Criteria
Applicants will be assessed based on:
1) Their professional legal experience in civilian personnel and acquisition law;
2) Their ability to supervise or manage personnel;
3) Their research, analytical, and writing capabilities;
4) Their oral communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to foster effective relationships and collaborate with senior military and civilian clients.

Experience in acquisition law is highly preferred. Familiarity with the Department of the Navy and the DON OGC is advantageous but not required.

We value candidates who have made significant contributions to the advancement of the DON OGC or equivalent legal offices beyond routine legal practice.

Education Requirements
The ideal candidate must have graduated from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association and be an active member in good standing of the bar of the highest court of a State, U.S. Commonwealth, U.S. territory, or the District of Columbia, with admission to practice before a state or federal court.

Additional Information
This position is part of the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program and is classified in the excepted service, which does not confer competitive status. Ad-hoc telework may be permitted at management's discretion, but remote work is not authorized.
