POSITION SUMMARY

The Loss Control Consultant plays a crucial role in aiding clients to oversee, design, and execute risk management and loss prevention strategies. This position involves conducting thorough on-site assessments related to incidents and accidents affecting both employees and the public, followed by reporting findings to site supervisors and the Risk Management Division. The consultant will also assess standard operating procedures in various domains such as employee safety and training, public safety, fire prevention, and general operational practices to mitigate risks.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Conduct investigations into incidents that lead to claims and communicate findings to clients.
  • Propose corrective measures to eliminate identified hazards.
  • Monitor the implementation of safety measures to ensure hazard mitigation.
  • Support clients in crafting and executing effective safety programs.
  • Participate in safety committee meetings on-site.
  • Examine playground facilities and investigate related accidents.
  • Formulate and enforce loss control management policies and procedures to guarantee consistent execution of loss control initiatives. This includes aiding in the development of return-to-work programs, safety committees, and loss control reporting.
  • Document findings and draft comprehensive reports with recommendations for corrective actions based on inspection results.
  • Assess the necessity for loss control and safety training to assist clients in formulating an effective loss control strategy.
  • Deliver foundational health and safety training to supervisors and staff to ensure proper handling of accident and loss risks.
  • Stay updated on industry trends through the review of relevant publications, professional journals, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Undertake additional projects and responsibilities as assigned.
SUCCESS FACTORS
  • OSHA 501 certification (or obtain within 12 months of hire); additional certifications based on client requirements such as CPSI, DDC, etc.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; two to five years of relevant experience or training; or a combination of education and experience.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
  • Proficiency in calculating figures and amounts such as percentages and volumes.
  • Ability to apply logical or scientific reasoning to a variety of practical and intellectual challenges.
  • Competence in interpreting nonverbal symbols (formulas, graphs, etc.).
  • Intermediate computer skills, including proficiency in email, databases, word processing, and spreadsheets.
  • Knowledge of applicable occupational health and safety regulations; familiarity with loss control practices and training methodologies, including OSHA standards.
  • Capability to consistently meet tight deadlines while managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication skills to build professional relationships across all organizational levels.
  • Professional representation of the company to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively within a team.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary.
