Job Overview

At Office Depot, Inc., every leader plays a crucial role in enhancing overall sales and service performance within the store. The Senior Retail Operations Manager collaborates closely with the General Manager to cultivate a robust service culture, oversee daily operations, and formulate strategic initiatives for the store. This position is responsible for meeting sales targets across all service categories, including copy & print, technology, subscriptions, and business services by identifying opportunities and implementing effective action plans. The Senior Retail Operations Manager is also tasked with ensuring that the store's sales training aligns with Office Depot, Inc.'s selling methodologies. Additionally, this role encompasses responsibilities related to merchandising, operational procedures, cash management, and adherence to both company and store standards, while also addressing concerns from associates and customers alike. The Senior Retail Operations Manager serves as a "Key Carrier" and acts as the designated Leader on Duty in the absence of other management personnel.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Inspire, mentor, and lead associates, fostering a culture of trust, brand loyalty, and outstanding customer service. Develop a sales-driven environment through effective training and associate development. Regularly exercise independent judgment in evaluating store associates' performance and competencies.
  • Oversee the assessment and growth of all service and sales associates, ensuring compliance with certification requirements (print, tech, etc.).
  • Deliver exceptional customer service by actively engaging with customers, ensuring their satisfaction, and resolving any issues. Cultivate a culture that drives sales by motivating associates to become product experts and customer-centric.
  • Enhance sales and profitability through improved conversion rates, Average Order Value (AOV), and customer satisfaction across all product categories.
  • Manage the execution of new service product launches and velocity services, driving merchandising sales initiatives.
  • In the absence of the General Manager, oversee inventory management, asset control, and expense monitoring by applying financial oversight and reviewing operational processes, including receiving, data entry, cash handling, and payroll management.
  • Maintain store appearance in accordance with company standards, ensuring a clean, organized, and well-stocked environment. Adhere to guidelines related to signage, planogram integrity, and merchandise presentation.
  • Manage performance, talent assessment, and recognition of associates. Conduct performance appraisals, providing timely and constructive feedback. Foster an inclusive environment that encourages innovative thinking and risk-taking.
  • Lead regular store meetings to communicate company initiatives, policies, and operational updates, ensuring associates are informed about benefits and directives.
  • Achieve and maintain Sales Leader certification and other required position-specific certifications. Complete all necessary management training, including compliance with legal and ethical standards.

Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Preferred fields of study include Business, Marketing, Retail Management, or related disciplines.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a related field.
  • At least two years of experience in retail, including management or supervisory roles in a sales-oriented, customer-focused environment. Experience in a service industry is advantageous.
  • Proficient in utilizing technology and print equipment relevant to the role, with the ability to access necessary information for daily tasks.
  • Capability to process transactions and merchandise through the POS register system.
