Patient Account Representative

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Patient Account Representative - HAC Coordinator to join our team at the Bucksport Regional Health Center. This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires strong communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities- Manage patient collections, including processing patient statements and sliding fee applications, and running weekly patient statements for accuracy.
- Coordinate the Collection File for outside agency use, working with the Team Lead or Manager to submit monthly collection files to outside collection companies.
- Manage the HAC/Sliding Fee Program, including approvals, denials, renewals, and other related tasks.
- Provide backup for insurance billing and remittance as needed.
- Post miscellaneous payments and perform general office work, including preparing Excel spreadsheets, typing letters and memos, faxing, filing, copying, and making and receiving telephone calls.
- At least two years of experience in bookkeeping, accounting, medical billing/coding, or collections in a business office, with experience in claims or billing in a healthcare setting preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the public.
- Exceptional organizational ability and attention to detail, with the ability to identify problems and recommend solutions.
- Ability to establish priorities and coordinate work activities, with a strong commitment to the mission of the Bucksport Regional Health Center.
The work environment is primarily office-based, with occasional evening or overtime work as needed. The noise level is usually quiet, and the physical requirements of the job include standing, walking, sitting, and using hands to finger, handle, or feel, including operation of a standard computer keyboard.
