A salary increase of $2000 is available for those with a Special Education teaching endorsement, in addition to another $2000 for candidates holding a master's degree.

Our focus is on supporting students aged 5 to 22 who require additional assistance to thrive academically and socially.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING, REQUIREMENTS AND PREREQUISITES

  • Preferred Virginia Special Education Teaching License or eligibility for licensure.
  • Bachelor's degree is mandatory.
  • Willingness to work throughout the year with scheduled breaks.
  • Safety-Care Certification (training will be provided).
  • Possession of a valid Virginia Driver's License, proof of insurance, and a satisfactory driving record (fewer than 5 demerit points).
  • This is a 10-month position with the option to teach summer school for additional compensation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Design and execute weekly lesson plans tailored to student needs.
  • Conduct both formal and informal assessments to track student progress and adapt instructional methods accordingly.
  • Effectively differentiate instruction to cater to the diverse learning requirements of students.
  • Identify students at risk academically and implement effective intervention strategies.
  • Engage actively in professional development opportunities.
  • Support school administration in enforcing policies and regulations governing student behavior, while establishing a fair and just classroom environment.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive records as mandated by law and district policies.
  • Participate in Community School Committee and various Advisory Committee meetings.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
  • Starting salary for licensed educators is $50,000, adjusted based on experience.
  • Additional $2000 salary increase for obtaining a Special Education teaching endorsement, plus another $2000 for a master's degree.
