About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Satellite Ground Systems Operations Engineer to join our Missions Control System (MCS) team at Maxar Intelligence Inc. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for supporting the Ground System that operates Maxar's Earth Intelligence spacecraft constellation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support real-time spacecraft/satellite operations to align with Maxar's mission, from design to implementation
  • Provide technical expertise in matters pertaining to the satellite ground system, including ground equipment, satellite command and control, satellite telemetry, and payload backhaul and processing
  • Collaborate with product owners, system engineers, software engineers, spacecraft operators, aerospace engineers, remote ground station engineers, and IT engineers to design and implement the satellite ground system
  • Work in a broad technical scope, primarily with software, using analysis of data and logs to troubleshoot and resolve issues
  • Utilize monitoring and alarming to ensure system operation and respond quickly to anomalies
Requirements
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and be willing and able to obtain U.S. Government Secret security clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field; four years of additional experience may be substituted for a degree
  • Minimum of two years of troubleshooting software experience
  • Expertise in Unix and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash)
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot software systems, document technical information, and switch between several technical tasks and keep track of open issues
Preferred Skills
  • Troubleshooting experience for AWS-based systems
  • Expertise with technologies such as REST application interfaces, PaaS, Elk/Kibana, Jenkins, Ansible, Kubernetes, Helm, Docker, Git, PostgreSQL/Aurora, Python, Ruby, C++, RabbitMQ, Redis
  • Experience being embedded with a software dev/test scrum team with a product owner
  • Curious and self-motivated to learn new technologies
