Role Summary:

The Senior Business Affairs Manager is crucial in facilitating creative development and integrated productions across various media, including broadcast, print, experiential, and digital. This role requires a collaborative spirit, a creative mindset, and a comprehensive understanding of the production lifecycle from initial concept to final delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

Creative and Production Management:

  • Serve as the primary Business Affairs contact for client projects.
  • Collaborate with cross-agency teams to evaluate creative materials and provide guidance on talent, third-party rights, copyright, trademark, and advertising regulations.
  • Review vendor agreements to ensure compliance with client Statements of Work (SOWs) and Master Service Agreements (MSAs).
  • Work alongside legal counsel to conduct preliminary trademark assessments.
  • Oversee third-party rights management and clearance processes.
  • Negotiate and draft agreements related to talent, music, and intellectual property.
  • Collaborate with agency legal teams on contract standardization and risk assessments.
  • Provide guidance on production best practices and client brand standards.
  • Coordinate with production teams to manage ongoing agency projects.
  • Assist producers in reviewing bidding documents.
  • Partner with finance to finalize client estimates before approval.
  • Prepare and distribute necessary documentation, including vendor agreements and purchase orders.
  • Work with finance and production on budget management and actualizations.
  • Engage with risk management to address production and contractual challenges.
  • Maintain thorough documentation for account transitions.

Talent, Music, and Licensing Management:

  • Provide expertise on SAG-AFTRA and AFM agreements, including waivers and best practices.
  • Educate agency teams and clients on non-union best practices and employment guidelines.
  • Participate in project scoping discussions to influence outcomes.
  • Estimate costs related to talent sessions and usage fees.
  • Manage the complete talent lifecycle, including contracts and payments, ensuring compliance with relevant guidelines.
  • Draft and negotiate agreements for third-party rights, including music and imagery.
Qualifications:
  • 6-8 years of experience in advertising business affairs.
  • Extensive experience with SAG regulations.
  • Proven track record in contract negotiations.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal abilities.
  • Meticulous attention to detail with the capacity to manage multiple projects.
  • A genuine passion for fostering creativity and supporting teams in achieving their best work.
