Logistics Manager

The Navy's Supply Corps is responsible for ensuring the timely delivery of essential supplies and equipment to support naval operations. As a Supply Corps Officer, you will play a critical role in maintaining the Navy's logistics and supply chain, working closely with other departments to ensure the success of every mission.
Key Responsibilities:- Analyze demand for supplies and forecast future needs
- Ensure timely receipt of parts and equipment for ship maintenance and repairs
- Oversee retail services, logistics, and culinary operations
- Manage inspection, shipping, handling, and packaging of supplies and equipment
- Direct personnel responsible for receiving inventory and issuing supplies and equipment
- Evaluate bids and proposals from potential suppliers
- Maintain budgets and study ways to optimize space and distribution
- Determine the most efficient and cost-effective methods for transporting cargo or personnel
- Oversee the handling of special items such as medicine and explosives
Supply Corps Officers work in a variety of settings, including offices, shore-based warehouses, air cargo terminals, and aboard ships and submarines. This diverse work environment provides opportunities to expand knowledge and skills in inventory management, financial management, procurement, and warehouse management.
Training and Advancement:As a Supply Corps Officer, you will attend Officer Candidate School (OCS) in Newport, RI, followed by specialized training at the Navy Supply School in Newport, RI. Advanced training may also be available, covering topics such as transportation management, freight classifications, and special handling of medical goods and explosives. Promotion opportunities are regularly available, based on performance.
Post-Service Opportunities:Specialized training and work experience gained in the Navy can lead to valuable credentialing and occupational opportunities in related fields such as logistics and business management. The Navy also offers generous financial assistance and continuing education programs to support your career advancement.
Qualifications and Requirements:To become a Supply Corps Officer, you must be a U.S. citizen, qualified for sea duty, and willing to serve worldwide. A degree from a four-year college or university is a minimum educational requirement, and a graduate degree is preferred. General qualifications may vary depending on your current or previous service status.
