As a Budget Analyst, you will be responsible for:

  • Budget Formulation and Execution
    • Develop and implement budget plans, forecasts, and projections for assigned areas.
    • Monitor and analyze budget execution, identifying areas for improvement and recommending corrective actions.
  • Financial Reporting and Analysis
    • Prepare and present financial reports, including budget execution, financial statements, and trend analysis.
    • Develop and maintain financial models, forecasts, and projections to support budget decision-making.
  • Collaboration and Communication
    • Work closely with senior management, program managers, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
    • Communicate complex financial information to non-technical stakeholders, including budget plans, financial reports, and analysis.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Specialized Experience
    • At least one year of experience in budget analysis, financial planning, or a related field.
    • Experience working with financial systems, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Education and Combination of Experience and Education
    • A bachelor's degree in a related field, such as finance, accounting, or business administration.
    • Or, a combination of education and experience that demonstrates the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Time-in-Grade and Time After Competitive Appointment

In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement:

  • For the GS-13, you must have been at the GS-12 level for 52 weeks.
  • For the GS-12, you must have been at the GS-11 level for 52 weeks.
  • For the GS-11, you must have been at the GS-09 level for 52 weeks.

Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a non-temporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.
