Overview

Starting pay range for this role: $15.42-$18.50 per hour

Under supervision, this position entails ensuring safety and facilitating recreational activities while monitoring swimming and enforcing safety protocols at the community pool.

Key Responsibilities

The following tasks are essential to this role, though not exhaustive. Additional responsibilities may be assigned.
  • Monitors and surveys the pool area, enforcing safety standards.
  • Assists swimmers in distress.
  • Administers first aid and resuscitation as necessary.
  • Ensures the facility remains clean and well-maintained.
  • Conducts routine maintenance on pool equipment.
  • Assists in evaluating chemical levels.
  • Supports swim instruction as needed.
  • Participates in required training and meetings as directed by management.
Qualifications and Skills

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Understanding of the policies and objectives of the City of Fort Lupton and its departments.
  • Familiarity with water safety principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in delivering effective customer service.
  • Knowledge of aquatic facilities and equipment utilized in aquatic programs.
  • Ability to perform life-saving techniques and CPR.
  • Capability to maintain accurate records related to aquatic operations.
  • Skill in testing pool chemical levels and making necessary adjustments.
  • Ability to respond promptly and effectively in emergencies.
  • Competence in diagnosing issues and assisting with maintenance and repairs to ensure the safety of the aquatic facility.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with diverse audiences.
  • Ability to foster and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues, community members, and the public.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
  • No prior experience required.
CERTIFICATIONS:
  • American Red Cross CPR-Professional Rescuer
  • American Red Cross Lifeguard Training
  • AED Certification
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The role requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, swim, rescue, bend, kneel, stoop, squat, twist, push, pull, jump, climb, reach, talk, hear, and see. The employee must frequently lift weights ranging from light to heavy, up to 50 lbs.

SUPERVISORY ROLE:
  • No supervisory responsibilities.
GUIDANCE AND DECISION MAKING:
  • Work procedures and methods are well-defined, with clear options available. Tools and materials are specified, and work steps are demonstrated or communicated through straightforward instructions.
  • During training, detailed oral and/or written instructions are provided. Tasks involve a series of sequential actions, including physical movements that may require visual discrimination.
  • Assigned duties are primarily routine and repetitive, with limited discretion in execution.
