Position SummaryWe are currently seeking substitute Teacher Aides for our UPK Preschool Program. This role involves collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver educational programming tailored to preschool-aged children across various ability levels. Substitute Teacher Aides will provide coverage in different classrooms as needed, attending to the daily requirements of the children and assisting the lead teacher in executing classroom activities.
Substitute Teacher Aides will work on an on-call basis, depending on their availability and preferences. Positions are available for 48 weeks each year, following the school calendar, which includes a 6-week summer program, Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM as required.
Compensation: $17.85 per hour
Key Responsibilities- Support the educational, physical, social, and emotional needs of students while assisting the Teacher in implementing classroom activities.
- Adhere to the classroom schedule, ensuring that individual student goals are met and appropriate data is collected.
- Provide instruction to individual students as directed by the Special Education Supervisor based on Individual Education Program goals.
- Assist students with classroom educational technology.
- Document and report on individual student progress, aiding the teacher in maintaining children's portfolios.
- Contribute to the creation of instructional materials.
- Help organize and arrange the classroom to foster an effective learning environment.
- Perform general housekeeping duties.
- Escort and assist students to and from transportation, promoting independence in orientation and mobility.
- Ensure a safe level of supervision for students, seeking guidance from supervisors when necessary.
- Assist in various classroom activities according to staffing patterns and student needs, including toileting, small group instruction, snack and lunch distribution, and playground supervision.
- Participate in professional development meetings and training sessions, sharing knowledge with fellow staff members (minimum of 30 hours every two years).
- Engage in training and webinars related to the designated curriculum for UPK and integrate this knowledge into classroom practices.
- Adhere to ethical and legal standards of behavior, ensuring compliance with corporate policies and regulations.
- Support the agency's vision and mission in daily operations.
- Follow all agency policies and procedures, maintaining a focus on personal and others' safety.
- Perform other job-related tasks as assigned by supervisors or program directors.
Applicants should possess a High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in early childhood education and special education is preferred.
- Ability to assist students with mobility needs, including lifting and maneuvering students in wheelchairs, as well as performing physical tasks required for CPR/First Aid and behavior intervention techniques, with or without reasonable accommodation.
