Job Title: Special Education Teacher

Abilities First, Inc. is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our team in Hyde Park, NY. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a vital role in creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment for students with diverse needs.

Job Summary:

The Special Education Teacher will be responsible for assessing student needs, developing and implementing individualized education plans, and coordinating with support staff to ensure a comprehensive and effective learning experience. This is a full-time position that requires a strong commitment to student-centered education and a passion for working with students with special needs.

Responsibilities:
  • Assess student needs and develop individualized education plans
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that meet the unique needs of each student
  • Coordinate with support staff to ensure a comprehensive and effective learning experience
  • Provide individualized support and accommodations to students as needed
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to ensure a collaborative approach to student education
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices in special education
Requirements:
  • K-12 or 1-6 certification preferred
  • Experience working with students with special needs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Commitment to creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment
