Job Summary:
This role is responsible for delivering advanced technical assistance to users, including students, faculty, and staff, addressing inquiries related to computer systems and technology. As a key member of the support team, the individual will oversee the installation and configuration of hardware and software on various user devices, manage system file backups and restorations, and provide training and technical guidance to campus personnel. Additionally, the role involves setting up audiovisual equipment and collaborating with IT analysts on network and lab setups.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver technical assistance for both Local Area and Wide Area Networks.
- Conduct data backup and recovery operations.
- Install and maintain network infrastructure, including routers, switches, and servers.
- Manage user accounts, passwords, and overall system security.
- Oversee the installation and upkeep of desktop hardware and software.
- Maintain an accurate inventory of all technological assets across the campus.
- Provide training sessions on hardware and software usage.
- Identify opportunities for automating repetitive tasks.
- Research and coordinate with external partners to resolve intricate technical issues.
- Stay updated on emerging technologies that could enhance university operations.
- Complete mandatory training and engage in professional development activities annually.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
- Education: Associate's Degree in Computer Science or a related field. Relevant work experience may substitute for educational qualifications.
- Experience: One to two years in software and hardware installation and maintenance, along with user support for office applications.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficient in installing and configuring hardware and software.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with IT staff to troubleshoot system and network challenges.
- Strong organizational skills with the capacity to manage multiple priorities accurately.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective information exchange.
- Strong interpersonal skills with an appreciation for diverse environments.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with office technologies, including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Commitment to customer service and representing the institution positively.
- Demonstrated ethical and professional conduct.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certifications in Information Technology, such as CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, or Microsoft Technology Associate, are advantageous.
Working Conditions:
Work may occasionally take place in construction environments. Flexibility is required for potential evening and weekend shifts. The role involves significant public interaction through various communication channels.
Physical Requirements:
The position necessitates prolonged periods of sitting, speaking, and listening, as well as extensive use of computers and office equipment. Lifting of items up to 45 lbs may be required, with appropriate handling procedures in place for heavier items.
