Schedule: Monday through Friday

Travel: Local travel for field trips, occasional home visits, and mandatory training sessions

Compensation: $24.79-$26.05 per hour, plus a $1,000 sign-on bonus

We offer programs that equip the community with essential tools and resources, impacting over 11,000 individuals and families each year. Our services encompass early childhood education, youth mentorship, employment training, housing assistance, and cultural events, among others.

Program Overview

The Children and Family Services programs include Head Start, Early Head Start, and Developmental Play Groups, serving over 900 children and their families. Our services are tailored to meet diverse needs and are provided in multiple languages across various locations.

Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Center Director, the Associate Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality care and education to infants and toddlers in a nurturing environment. This role focuses on promoting the holistic development of children enrolled in the Early Head Start program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide nurturing care during daily routines such as meals, hygiene, and rest for infants and toddlers.
  • Design and implement age-appropriate educational activities.
  • Collaborate with team members to create and execute daily lesson plans.
  • Conduct assessments and maintain records of children's development.
  • Facilitate parent-teacher conferences and home visits as required.
  • Utilize classroom resources to foster an engaging and supportive learning environment.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with families.
  • Ensure a safe and healthy classroom environment in compliance with relevant standards.
  • Participate in regular staff meetings and professional development opportunities.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Center Director.

Qualifications

  • Ability to develop and implement daily educational plans.
  • Experience working effectively in a multicultural team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to foster trust and security among children.
  • Compassionate approach to engaging with children and families.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish/English or another Asian language preferred.
  • Knowledge of safe lifting techniques and preventive health measures.

Requirements

  • Valid Associate Teacher Permit from the Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
  • Completion of 15 units in Early Childhood Education, including core courses and infant/toddler care.

Physical Requirements

Must be capable of performing physical tasks such as climbing stairs, lifting up to 30 pounds, and engaging in activities that require mobility and dexterity.
