Child Behavioral Support Specialist

A Child Behavioral Support Specialist plays a crucial role in assisting children and adolescents along with their families within community or home environments by executing tailored treatment strategies.
In this capacity, you will engage with children and adolescents according to their designated treatment plans, facilitate skill transfer to parents and caregivers, maintain progress documentation, and gather assigned data.
Services will primarily be delivered in community settings. The specialist should be organized, maintain a positive outlook, effectively communicate with both children and adults, and exhibit strong interpersonal skills.Qualifications
Educational and Certification Requirements:
Applicants must possess ONE of the following qualifications at the time of hiring:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Social Work, Psychology, Special Education, etc.)
- Associate's degree in a related human services discipline, or 60 credits towards a degree
- High School diploma with completion of a 40-hour training covering the RBT Task List
Experience:
A minimum of one year of experience working with children with developmental disabilities, or one year of experience providing behavioral health services to children/adolescents; two years of experience in behavioral health services is preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
A Child Behavioral Support Specialist will be tasked with delivering individualized behavioral support and intervention to a child or adolescent diagnosed with a developmental, intellectual, or behavioral health condition. This role also includes providing training and support to caregivers to stabilize family situations, facilitate skill transfer to parents/caregivers, and encourage age-appropriate psychosocial development.
The specialist will adhere to a treatment plan and implement strategies developed by the Behavior Consultant. Services are rendered in community settings. The specialist will be responsible for attending mandatory monthly supervisions and trainings, as well as providing comprehensive progress notes and data collection.Physical Requirements:
The ability to fulfill the physical demands associated with the role of a Child Behavioral Support Specialist is essential.
Candidates must possess sufficient mobility to engage in frequent walking, standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching (both vertically and horizontally), and utilizing hands, feet, legs, and torso in providing care.
Regular lifting and/or moving of up to 40 pounds is required, with occasional lifting/moving of up to 50 pounds.
Standard Requirements:
Support the mission and values of Indian Creek Foundation and the IBHS (Intensive Behavioral Health Services) program.
Flexibility in working hours is necessary, as program needs may require evening availability.
Successful completion of a post-offer pre-employment physical examination and drug screening is mandatory; candidates must also clear yearly criminal background checks, child abuse clearances, and FBI clearances; a valid driver's license with a clean three-year driving record is required.
Compliance with HIPAA standards is essential.Strong written and verbal communication skills are necessary.
Ability to file Childline reports as mandated by the Child Protective Service Law. Complete necessary documentation for the Managed Care Company and agency.
Exhibit a professional demeanor as a representative of Indian Creek Foundation.
Demonstrate behavior in accordance with the Code of Conduct while performing duties.
Essential Duties:
Work all authorized hours in alignment with each child's service prescription.
Collaborate with treatment team members to develop goals and interventions.
Facilitate skill transfer to parents/caregivers through interventions such as modeling, coaching, and strategies outlined in the behavior plan.
Provide accurate and clear documentation on progress notes for each session.Conduct data collection during each session to assist in evaluating progress levels.
Participate in monthly team meetings and group supervision sessions with clinical supervisors.
Maintain communication with the treatment team to report obstacles, progress, and concerns regarding treatment.
Additional Responsibilities:
Demonstrate knowledge and application of CASSP principles.
Adhere to HIPAA standards.
Engage in yearly training as required by Indian Creek Foundation.
Participate in relevant training opportunities to enhance professional knowledge.
