Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Administrative Assistant to join our team at the City of Tamarac, FL. As a key member of our Public Services department, you will provide administrative support to our staff, interact with the public, and assist in the management of daily departmental operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative support to the Public Services staff, including answering phones, responding to emails, and completing special projects.
  • Keep official records and maintain accurate and up-to-date files.
  • Interact frequently with the public, responding to inquiries and providing information as needed.
  • Assist in the management of daily departmental operations, including coordinating schedules and processing accounts payable and receivables.
  • Perform a variety of routine to moderately complex clerical and administrative activities, including data entry, filing, and record-keeping.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; specialized course work in general office practices a plus.
  • Two or more years of clerical experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
Working Conditions

This is a non-exempt position, paid on an hourly basis, issued bi-weekly, and subject to overtime pay. The City of Tamarac is a drug-free workplace and requires a pre-employment drug screening prior to appointment. An eligible veteran or spouse of veteran shall receive preference in the selection process as provided for in the Florida Statutes.
