Position Title: Restorative Care Technician

Department: Physical Therapy

The Restorative Care Technician plays a vital role in the provision of nursing restorative care to patients, working closely with both Nursing Services and Rehabilitation Services. This position operates under the direct supervision of the nurse manager and rehabilitation therapists, ensuring a collaborative approach to patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Demonstrate a commitment to service excellence by fostering a respectful and supportive environment for patients, families, and colleagues.
  2. Assist rehabilitation therapists in delivering essential services to patients, particularly in activities that require additional physical support.
  3. Perform supportive tasks as directed by the nurse manager, including but not limited to:
  • Managing patient sitting schedules.
  • Facilitating patient mobility and ambulation.
  • Administering range of motion exercises as prescribed.
  • Assisting with the application and removal of splints.
  • Supporting patients in daily living activities.
  • Reinforcing therapeutic exercises and dietary instructions.
  • Documenting all care provided accurately.
Maintain a thorough understanding of each patient's rehabilitation plan and effectively communicate this to patients and their families.Transport patients to therapy sessions and assist with the use of mobility aids.Support record-keeping related to equipment usage and inventory management.Conduct regular safety checks on therapeutic equipment and assist in maintaining cleanliness and functionality.Monitor patients during treatment, recording vital signs and reporting any significant changes in condition.Assist with clerical tasks as needed to support the rehabilitation team.Prepare specialized equipment for therapy sessions.Engage in ongoing education and participate in departmental meetings and improvement initiatives.Promote a safe working environment by adhering to safety protocols and reporting hazards.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Essential:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in a clinical or rehabilitation setting as a patient care technician.

Preferred:

  • Background in physical rehabilitation.
  • Experience with diverse patient populations.

Certifications:

  • Active Certified Nursing Assistant certification.
  • Completion of an accredited program in physical, occupational, or speech therapy is advantageous.

Work Environment:

This role is performed in a hospital setting, involving direct patient interaction and collaboration within a therapy department.
