Property and Risk Management Specialist

Job Summary:

This position plays a crucial role in supporting ongoing programs that prevent and minimize the consequences of fire, mechanical breakdown, and natural hazard risks at Calpine's natural gas-fired and geothermal energy centers, including battery energy storage sites. The successful candidate will lead the claims process for the property insurance program and work closely with Calpine operations, engineering, and construction personnel to respond to insurer recommendations.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage third-party property insurance inspections and schedule site visits with inspectors.
Review loss control reports for accuracy and ensure compliance with site visits.
Collaborate with Calpine teams to implement insurer recommendations and provide updates on progress.
Develop and maintain technical knowledge of major equipment in the Calpine fleet, including combustion turbine generators, steam turbine generators, transformers, and electrical apparatus.
Manage property and business interruption claims, engaging third-party loss adjusters and coordinating activities until completion.

Requirements:

Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an accredited institution.
Professional Engineer (P.E.) designation preferred (Mechanical ideal).
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, etc.).
Minimum of 10+ years of experience in the area of specialization, with 5 years in the Power Industry, 5 years in Property loss control, and 5 years in the Power Generation segment of the property insurance market.
