Patient Services Coordinator - Float Pool, Full Time, Days

Location: Chicago, Illinois Business Unit: Northwestern Medical Group Job Function: Customer Service Shift: Day Job (1st)

The Patient Services Coordinator - Float embodies the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Medicine, adhering to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, while complying with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and other regulatory and accreditation standards.

This role is crucial in supporting the service area by managing patient check-ins and check-outs for appointments. The Patient Services Coordinator - Float Pool will consistently exhibit outstanding customer service while assisting patients and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Scheduled hours will vary based on organizational needs; flexibility with start and end times is essential to address immediate staffing requirements.
  2. Support medical clinics across Northwestern Medicine and be prepared to travel locally as necessary.
  3. Engage with patients and guests, including welcoming them upon arrival, verifying their identity, and providing essential information regarding their visit.
  4. Execute check-in and check-out processes as directed.
  5. Confirm and update patient identification and demographic/insurance details.
  6. Facilitate patient registration as required.
  7. Obtain necessary patient consents and authorizations.
  8. Collect co-payments, outstanding balances, and point-of-service payments.
  9. Process payments, manage billing information, and perform end-of-day cash drawer reconciliation.
  10. Maintain a clean and comfortable waiting area.
  11. Notify patients of any delays or changes in appointment status.
  12. Schedule appointments as needed.
  13. May perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Zero (0) to two (2) years of experience in a customer service role.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Previous experience in a healthcare environment.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology.
  • Bilingual abilities.
