Responsibilities

Job Summary

The Utility Construction Laborer plays a crucial role in preparing and maintaining construction sites, handling materials, operating machinery, and assisting skilled tradespeople in their tasks. This position is integral to the Construction team and collaborates with various personnel within the department.

Core Responsibilities

  • Prepare and clean construction sites, removing debris and potential hazards.
  • Support tradespeople in executing their tasks more efficiently.
  • Identify utilities and assist the digging crew to prevent utility strikes.
  • Maintain and clean equipment.
  • Restock vehicles with necessary supplies to ensure crews are equipped for their tasks.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of relevant experience.
  • CDL Class A driver's license.
Physical Demands and Work Environment

This position operates primarily in a field environment, requiring physical activity such as bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and lifting. Employees may work in various weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind.

The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this role. This position requires the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, maintain clarity of vision at various distances, and possess precise hand-eye coordination. The ability to identify and distinguish colors is also necessary.
