Job Overview

As a Staff Engineer, Geotechnical Specialist at HVJ Associates, you will play a key role in supporting project managers and staff to ensure client satisfaction through detailed calculations, engineering analyses, and field assignments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform field work, including marking borings and logging behind a drill rig.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Coordinate field and/or lab assignments.
  • Conduct engineering analyses for shallow and deep foundations, retaining walls, slope stability, and settlement.
  • Draft geotechnical reports for project managers' review.

Requirements:

  • MSCE, BSCE, or BSAE with one to four years of directly related experience.
  • Registered EIT or GIT.
  • AutoCAD skills.
  • Excellent written and communication skills and strong math and science skills.
  • GIS/database knowledge a plus.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License with no history of accidents or alcohol/drug-related traffic offenses and valid right to work documents.
  • Ability to tolerate year-round outdoor work.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and fix testing equipment a plus.
  • Ability to work weekends and travel overnight within Texas (as needed).
